School Classes - Elementary, Junior High and Senior High

At EEC we offer programmes for school students of all ages. For more details about each age group, click on a link below or feel free to contact us directly.

Elementary School

At Elementary School, students suddenly find themselves in large formal classes. English can be a daunting subject so it is very important that children feel relaxed about it from an early age. Classes at EEC make learning fun, and ensure that a basic knowledge of English is gained to build on later in life.

Most classes are based around a set of two textbooks from the new "Superkids" series - a "Student Book" and an "Activity Book". The "Student Book " is a colourful text primarily used for the introduction of new material, songs and games, while the black and white "Activity Book " contains fun writing tasks and puzzles that can be completed, coloured and used to review each topic, and a CD for the listening exercises!

Our courses and materials focus on Two main areas - phonics and day-to-day conversation.

Phonics
Reading the written form of English and spelling of the spoken form can be confusing as the letters in the alphabet can be pronounced in many ways. At EEC we start teaching phonics with the sounds of the ABC and move on to combinations of two or more letters. Our native teachers can easily assess and correct pronunciation while making the lessons exciting through games and creative tasks.

Day-to-day

The only way to learn English is through practice, and students are more likely to use their skills if the topics studied are relevant to their everyday lives. As such, we concentrate on useful vocabulary and use everyday situations to practice it in.

Junior High School

English is an important subject at Junior High School, but large class sizes, limited time and a lack real-life context can make it uninteresting for some students. Unfortunately, when a subject is uninteresting it becomes more difficult to study and examination results may suffer.

At EEC things are different. We offer small class sizes with native English teachers, and because we are not restricted to a fixed syllabus we can choose many more interesting and relevant topics that students can engage with.

Classes are loosely based around a textbook from the "Postcards" series, although care is taken to link topics with those being studied at school. Each of these texts covers important vocabulary and grammar points, while real-world situations are presented to give them some context.

Seasonal activites and projects give students a chance to explore English - and have fun!

High School

The challenges faced at High School can make it a very stressful time for students. As English is a core subject for many university entrance examinations and national tests, it is vital that they are well prepared and able to gain excellent marks. Both of these burdens can be relieved through regular extra classes at EEC!

Even though examination results are always an important factor, at EEC we approach topics in a relaxed and fun way, so students can absorb information and practice their skills in a comfortable atmosphere.

As with all our school-age classes, our native speaking teachers are in the best position to advise and correct any language points that may arise. They can also assist with pronunciation and general communication, and are available to the students as a valuable resource that many of their peers do not have access to.

The general focus for each lesson and the associated grammar points are usually based on a textbook from the "Open House" series, however the surrounding topics discussed in class are much more varied and relevant to the needs of the students and to current events.
